About John Rozic

John Rozic is running for the office of Representative to Ohio House District 44. John served the City of Waterville as a member of Council for 12 years. Elected to his third and final city council term in 2021, his leadership roles include more than 30 years of service in city government, education, youth organizations, and for public charities.

As a member of Waterville city council, John has been chairman of the Public Safety and Public Works committees and served on the Finance Committee. He continues to represent Waterville on the Joint Fire Co-Op District Committee, which includes Waterville, Whitehouse, and Waterville Township. John is a former member and past President of the Board of Education of the Anthony Wayne Local School District.  He was a founding Trustee of the Anthony Wayne Youth Foundation and of the Anthony Wayne Education Association, and he is Treasurer and a Board member of the Anthony Wayne Youth Soccer League, where he previously volunteered as a youth soccer coach. John is also a member of the Boards of the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio, and Nature’s Nursery. He is a member of the Ohio Higher Educational Facility Commission by appointment of the Governor.

A native of Lorain, Ohio, John earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Case Western Reserve University in 1973, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1977.  John is admitted to the Ohio Bar, the federal and state courts of Ohio, and the United States Court of Federal Claims.  During law school, he was a trust officer and director of the probate trust department of the former Toledo Trust Company. After graduating from law school, John was associated with Arthur Young and Company in the tax department before entering the private practice of law.

John is the managing partner of the law firm of Shindler Neff LLP in Holland, and formerly in downtown Toledo. He practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, real estate, business, and tax law. 

John and his wife, Debbie, have three children, all of whom attended and graduated from Anthony Wayne High School, and they are active grandparents for their 10 grandchildren. They have made their home in Waterville, Ohio, since 1980, after residing in Toledo and Maumee. They are committed to the greater community and pleased and proud to call Lucas County home.

John is a fan of the Toledo Walleye, Mud Hens, and Rockets, as well as Cleveland Browns, Guardians, and Cavaliers. A long-time bass guitar player, he plays rock and roll with a group of local attorneys and judges for an annual charity fundraiser. John also plays occasionally with The Free, which he started in high school with his bandmates in a garage in Lorain.
